About Jill Chase
Jill Chase is a Litigation Partner at Claggett & Sykes Trial Lawyers. Jill was born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in Dover, Delaware. She graduated from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in Art History, after having spent her junior year abroad at University College London in England. She then moved to Washington, DC where she first worked for a member of Congress in the 100th U.S. Congress and then as a legal assistant/paralegal at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. Wanting to pursue a law degree and life in the West, she moved to San Diego, California and attended California Western School of Law, where she received the American Jurisprudence Award in Legal Skills II and was a Staff Writer and Staff Editor of the California Western Law Review. Before graduating in 1994, Ms. Chase accepted a position as an associate attorney at a large insurance defense firm in Las Vegas, Nevada, which has been her home ever since.
For the first thirty years of her career as a lawyer, Jill worked as an associate or partner for several prominent insurance defense law firms in Las Vegas honing her civil litigation skills in medical malpractice/professional negligence and general liability matters, many of which were complex and high exposure. Coming from a medical family, Ms. Chase spent many years focusing on defending physicians, nurses, hospitals, and other medical providers in litigation and administrative matters. During that time, she participated in numerous hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and jury trials, including a professional negligence case she successfully tried alone to verdict in Carson City. Over her career, Jill has become very familiar with how the insurance industry works and how adjusters think regarding claim handling practices and litigation matters. In addition, her work with hundreds of medical professionals, risk managers, and medical facilities has provided her with extensive knowledge concerning health care industry practices and procedures. Jill has been rated as an AV Preeminent attorney by Martindale Hubble since 2013, and has argued before the Nevada Supreme Court.
In 2025, Jill decided to pursue her growing wish to switch sides and help plaintiffs obtain justice, a desire that had become even stronger after being one herself. She joined a local personal injury firm where she gained valuable experience as part of the trial team in a professional negligence case, and worked on a variety of high stakes personal injury cases that were resolved successfully. These included actions arising from catastrophic motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and insurance bad faith.
In April 2026, Jill joined Claggett & Sykes, adding experience and value to the medical malpractice team in helping to build effective litigation strategies, anticipate defense tactics, and achieve client satisfaction.
Outside of work, Jill enjoys spending time with her son and dogs and activities including travel, live music, golf, tennis, pickleball, horseback riding, hiking, and camping.
