Claggett & Sykes Secures $13 Million Settlement for Verizon Store Employees in Commission Dispute

Claggett & Sykes Secures $13 Million Settlement for Verizon Store Employees in Commission DisputeClaggett & Sykes, along with several other firms, secured a class action settlement against Go Wireless, which owned and operated approximately 600 Verizon-branded retail stores around the country. The judge recently granted final approval of the $13 million settlement. The deal marks a win for thousands of Go Wireless workers who allege that they were not properly compensated per the terms of their commission agreements.

Background of the case

The case began with Allan Herdemian, a former Clark County Verizon store employee, who filed the claim in 2017 after allegedly learning that Go Wireless’ computer system and its interaction with Verizon’s system had “glitches” that routinely caused commission payments. Under Nevada law, commissions are a form of wages, which means that employers are legally obligated to pay them just as they would be obligated to pay hourly earnings or salaries. The legal claims included breach of contract, failure to pay wages and unjust enrichment.

What started with one upset employee later expanded into a certified class action with several former Go Wireless employees serving as class representatives for more than 15,000 people who worked for the company from May 2014 through July 2019. Now, about 8,000 employees have responded and claimed their share in the recovery. The success of this case illustrates the importance of class action lawsuits and how they work to give average employees collective strength against corporations.

The settlement terms

The $13 million settlement was approved by Judge Timothy C. Williams in August 2025. Herdemian will recover $12,500 for bringing the case forward, plus his share of the settlement. Around 20 people will be receiving over $10,000 each, while another 1,500 will be receiving $1,000 to $10,000. The payment amounts are tied to each person’s sales performance.

Why this case matters

When it comes to wage and commission disputes, the total amount owed to a single employee might be somewhat modest. For example, in this case, Go Wireless initially tried to settle with Herdemian for just $5,000. However, that was before the case became a certified class action lawsuit. When a company neglects to pay its workers fairly, in aggregate, it can add up to millions in unpaid earnings. This case shows how class actions provide a means for workers to unite and seek a meaningful resolution, even against a powerful company.
